Yomi Taniyama Kaori (literally, "Yuntanza Hanana")
Yomi Taniyama Kaori is a traditional Okinawan textile developed based on techniques introduced from China and Southeast Asia during the Ryukyu Kingdom era in the 14th century. What is characteristic is that the flower pattern is expressed by the weaving technique to create a geometric pattern. Making full use of this technique, patterns such as windmills, money shapes, and reverse triangles are woven while having meaning. In addition, it also features dyeing technology that uses natural dyes made from trees from Okinawa to create vivid colors. It declined in the Meiji era and was temporarily forgotten after the Battle of Okinawa, but the reconstruction movement began in 1964, it was designated as an intangible cultural property designated by Okinawa Prefecture in 1975, and a traditional craft designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1976. It was certified. Today, it is widely recognized as a representative craft of Okinawa.
